Peter Kenward joins Clark Wilson

We are pleased to announce that Peter Kenward will be joining Clark Wilson on May 1, 2008, a valuable addition to our Commercial Real Estate Group.
Peter is well-known in BC's real estate community, recognized for his skills and experience with complex matters involving land use and regulatory issues. He is active in numerous organizations involved in land use law, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Urban Development Institute (Pacific Region).

In his practice, Peter regularly advises property owners regarding options for land use and development and strategies for accommodating community and regional growth management concerns, and his recent experience includes representing a large coalition of BC businesses regarding the terms of the Community Charter. He has also represented property owners at all levels of the Court system, through to and including the Supreme Court of Canada, on applications to set aside bylaws which negatively impact land use and development potential.
Peter's capabilities are also widely recognized in the legal community. He is included in the 2007 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a leading lawyer in the area of property development. He is a past Chairman of the National Municipal Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, and also served as Chairman of the BC Municipal Law subsection. He has also chaired a number of comprehensive seminars on local governance and environmental law topics for various organizations, including the Urban Development Institute, the Union of BC Municipalities, and Continuing Legal Education.
Peter completed his Bachelor of Commerce (1979) and LL.B. (1981) at UBC. He was called to the BC Bar in 1982, and practiced with McCarthy Tétrault for many years prior to joining our firm.
